Burley Cricket Club 1st XI v Ringwood on Sat 06 Jul 2013 at 14.00
Burley Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Burley produced another convincing display against local rivals Ringwood to continue their quest for promotion. Andy Jones won the toss for Ringwood and decided to bat on the hottest day of the Summer so far leaving Burley to toil in the heat. With leading wicket taker, Jim Burry, missing it was Craig Doick who skipper Kieron Hudson, asked to take the new ball with James Edworthy, and it was Doick who made the early breakthrough having Gould caught at short mid on by Ben Crowley. Ringwood kept the scoreboard ticking at about 4 an over, largely thanks to Andy Jones and by the first drinks break had reached 59-2 (opener Craig Seymour - bowled by James Edworthy, the other wicket to fall). Immediately following drinks Edworthy had the dangerous Shaun Leadbetter caught and bowled and the innings began to slow. Burley's reserve bowling attack (Wayne Tucker and Jonathan Beck along with Burry missing) then took charge. Ben Crowley bowled Jones for 39 and had Dave Butcher caught by Steve Doick without scoring while at the other end Charlie Lambourne had Paul Holland caught by Alan Vernon at point. The re-introduction of Edworthy accounted for Mark Bingham who had taken a liking to the bowling of Crowley and Lambourne as they tired in the sun. Edworthy also bowled Glenn Davies and Kieron Hudson and Paul Hanson mopped up the final two wickets to close the innings at 176 in the 38th over.
In reply, Kieron Hudsn opened with Rob Munro in the absence of regular partner Jonny Beck. However, another opening stand in excess of 50 ensued. At drinks the score stood at 71-0 with Hudson racing to 45 not out leaving Munro in the starting blocks 4 not out. With the score at 88 Hudson succumbed to Keller Holland for 49 bringing James Edworthy to the crease. Andy Jones brought himself on to bowl, his 2 overs costing 35 runs and with the match hastily moving towards a 24 point victory for Burley Munro was bowled by Paul Holland for 45. Edworthy's hard hitting saw him race to 58* from just 35 balls ensuring victory in just 28.4 overs.
Mottisfont continue to lead the way in the division with a comfortable victory over Pylewell Park but 3rd placed Whiteparish played out another tie this time with Mudeford and only picked up 16 points, opening up the gap between Burley in 2nd and them in 3rd. Next Saturday Burley host Lymington on 'The Green'.
