Lord Toads v Burley Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sun 18 Aug 2013 at 14:00
Burley Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report In Burley Sunday XI's first away game of the season Burley went to Carvers in Ringwood with just 10 players. This turned out to be one more than the Lord Toads could muster up. Unsurprisingly Daniel Tucker again lost the toss and Toads skipper Andy Doe elected to bat. Charlie Lambourne made the breakthrough as early as the 2nd ball of the match when Alex Gould played on to his stumps to go for a golden duck. Charlie Pierson came in to join Ali Wiseman and the pair pushed the score along steadily at 5 an over. Rain stopped play briefly after 9 overs, but shortly after the rain delay Ali Wiseman (29) was run out after a good piece of fielding from Tom Hodgson to break the partnership at 52. Then in the next over Ben Gorham trapped Charlie Pierson lbw for 19 to leave the Toads at 55-3. With Andy Jones and Jack Reynolds at the crease the pair began to rebuild the innings. Tom Allam was unlucky not to claim the wicket of Andy Jones when Charlie Lambourne dropped him on the square leg boundary. The drop proved not to be costly as Greg Thew made a sharp stumping off the bowling of Gorham the next over to get rid of Jones. This began a flow of wickets as Dan Maher came into the attack and took 2 wickets in his first two legitimate balls to leave the Toads in deep trouble at 101-6. Maher picked up another wicket to finish with excellent figures of 6-2-11-3 and when the rain stopped play again at 31 overs the Toads declared on 129-8

After an extended tea due to rain, Charlie Moorman and Tom Hodgson went out to bat. Moorman was bowled for 3 before Alex Martin and Hodgson put on 38, Hodgson being the next to go for 12. Martin and Greg Thew then put on another 38 before Thew (21) was bowled by Charlie Pierson's first ball to leave Burley three down for 82. Then the very next over Andy Jones took a return catch to dismiss Alex Martin for a well-made 41. The next over Burley were 5 down when Pierson spilled a return catch on to the stumps and Ben Gorham was short of his ground and so was dismissed in the unluckiest manner. After a tricky three overs Charlie Lambourne and Dan Maher made sure there was to be no more wickets and Lambourne was quick to take Burley over the line, slogging Pierson for 3 sixes in just 4 balls, finishing unbeaten on 30 as Burley completed a 5 wicket victory in the rain.

Next up for Burley is a home fixture against touring side, Harlestone CC.
