Pylewell Park v Burley Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sun 26 Jun 2016 at 14:00
Burley Cricket Club Lost by 5 wickets

Match report Burley Sunday XI suffered their 2nd defeat of the season as they were well beaten at Pylewell Park. The majority of the lads enjoyed a pre-match pub lunch before heading on to Pylewell. Daniel Tucker won the toss and opted to bat first in a 40 over match. Without opening batsman Kieron Hudson in the lineup Tucker and Alec Moorman opened the innings - the pair putting on 117 before Tucker (18) was plumb lbw at the beginning of the 28th over. With 12 overs to go and 9 wickets in hand a score of 180+ should have easily been in reach. However, total disater struck as a shambolic collapse saw a further 8 wickets fall for just a measly 11 runs as Burley had slipped from 117-0 to 128-9 in 11 overs. A partnership of 14 between Matt Fletcher (12) and Harvey Farrell-Jarvis (1*) took Burley to a below-par 142 before Fletch was bowled in the last over. Alec Moorman was the batsman to shine for Burley with 86 including 9 boundaries and 3 sixes. Pylewell used all 11 fielders as bowlers and certainly would have been happy to restrict Burley to 142.
After a lovely tea Burley went out to field and it didn't take them long to find a breakthrough - Jonny Blundell striking in the 3rd over. Blundell and Burry both bowled very tightly conceding just 32 runs in 14 overs between them. A flurry of wickets left Pylewell at 59-5 off 21 overs, as Fletcher took 3-14 in his 1st spell of 4 overs. Russ Asher taking the other wicket. At the same stage in the first innings Burley were 76-0 so Pylewell were behind the game. However, as the rain started to steadily fall making the ball hard to grip for the bowlers, Burley became flat in the field and M Doe took advantage - taking Pylewell over the line in quick style - blasting 3 consecutive sixes off Fletch's second spell to finish unbeaten on 55 and end the game in the 30th over as he put on an unbroken stand of 86 in just 9 overs to completely turn the game.
Ultimately, Burley lost the game in the latter stages of their innings - scoring just 25 runs in the last 12 overs. Also probably could have done with an extra bowler to call upon. Next up for Burley is another local away game against Cadnam - fingers crossed the rain stays away and Burley can get back to winning ways.
