Burley Cricket Club Sunday XI v Talbot on Sun 25 Jun 2017 at 14:00
Burley Cricket Club Won by 145 runs

Match report Burley Sunday XI ended their three match losing streak in style by crushing their visitors, Talbot, by a whopping 145 runs. Daniel Tucker won the toss and decided that Burley would bat first. Kieron Hudson and Jim Burry strolled out to the middle to open the innings, the pair ticking the scoreboard along nicely - the partnership passing fifty in just the 9th over. The partnership went as far as 78 before Craig Rochford had Burry caught for a run-a-ball 33. Burry's dismissal brought Dan Maher to the crease - who added 52 for the 2nd wicket with Hudson before Maher (19) was adjudged LBW to Rochford. Hudson raced along to his 2nd Sunday ton of the season when his 19th boundary of the innings took him through to three figures in the 27th over. Hudson, (101* off 93 balls) retired - meaning Alex Martin joined Alec Moorman at the crease, resulting in the run-rate rising further. Hard-hitting from Moorman (53*) and Martin (29), and then Tucker (19*) meant Burley amassed 88 in the last 10 overs - the trio all scoring at better than a run-a-ball - Moorman retiring on 53 in the process - Burley finishing on 275-4 (+ two retirees) from their 40 overs.
In reply, Talbot, having to score at nearly seven an over got off to a flier thanks to big-hitter Craig Rochford (22) but Dan Mepham got the breakthrough in the 5th over with the score on 33. Spinner, Mark Wheeler (3-27) then picked up three cheap wickets in three overs and Talbot seemed to be folding like a pack of cards - 4 wickets down in the first 10 overs. Spinners, Dan Maher and Oliver Clamp were introduced into the attack, and after Martin West (41) and Rob Wilkinson (26) offered resistance, Maher (3-46) and the impressive Clamp (3-27) shared the final 6 wickets between them - each taking 3 apiece - Talbot's innings coming to an end with the first ball of the 27th over with the total at 130.
A good, solid all-round performance from Burley against a friendly Talbot side, who by their own admission were lacking in strength, in a game which never matched the closeness of the match between the sides the previous year when the margin was just 17 runs. Next up for Burley Sunday XI is an away day out at Wimborne & Colehill, a reversal of the fixture from earlier in the season.
