Southampton Travellers v Burley Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 26 May 2018 at 14:00
Burley Cricket Club Won by 28 runs

Match report Burley made it three victories on the bounce with a 28 run victory over Southampton Travellers. Man of the match, James Brown dominated with both bat and ball as Burley continue to build on recent form. Winning the toss, Craig Doick elected to bat first and after an early setback a second wicket stand between James Brown and Alan Wright of 61 set the innings on it's way. Following Wright's dismissal for 26 regular wickets fell but Brown stayed resolute at the other end. On a soft wicket and a very slow outfield par score looked to be around 180 and with few opportunities for boundaries there was lots of running for the batsmen to do. Craig Doick hit 19 in a stand of 41 with Brown but no other Burley batsman reached double figures. All the running took it's toll on Brown who was eventually bowled with two balls remaining in the innings for 95 and with Harvey Farrell-Jarvis bowled off of the last ball of the innings Burley ended 188 all out from their 45 overs.
In reply, the Travellers fell 29 short of victory. Brown starred with the ball taking 3-18 in his 9 overs with the other bowlers chipping in with wickets alongside a good ground fielding display. The first wicket fell when a failed LBW shout saw the ball run to Kieron Hudson at 1st slip who quickly removed the bails to have George run out before Brown took 'centrestage'. A superb pick up and throw from Charlie Clamp also had the dangerous Jagadeesh run out but the Travellers, however, remained on course for victory with Chowdhury (29) and Salaskar (52*) at the crease. Chowdhury was well caught in the deep by Hudson off of the bowling of Doick but Matt Brown with Salaskar continued to head towards victory . However, Brown was bowled by Hudson and Clamp had last man Stroud caught by Steve Moorman and victory was wrapped up with four and a half overs to spare.
Next week sees Burley entertain Hythe and Dibden on The School Green at Cott Lane, both sitting mid-table after four rounds of the 2018 season.
