Pylewell Park v Burley Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 23 Jun 2018 at 13:00
Burley Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report Burley returned to winning ways with a 5 wicket victory at Pylewell Park largely thanks to an unbeaten century from Kieron Hudson, whose opening partnership of 143 with Alan Wright laid the platform to chase down the 222 set by Pylewell. Earlier in the afternoon it was Pylewell's Will Morgan who led the way with the bat notching up a half century. Burley found early wickets hard to come by with Morgan sharing an opening stand of 101 with John Royan. It was Morgan who fell first, Mark Wheeler making the breakthrough, Hudson taking the catch at long on. Royan was next to go, bowled by Charlie Clamp for 31 and the Burley attack had pegged back the early run rate and with 10 overs of the innings left Pylewell were 145-2. Solid contributions from Adam Drodge (28), Mark Stirling (34) and some hard hitting from Ashley Russell (37) helped the total past 200, falling just short of maximum batting points at 222.
Pylewell also found early wickets difficult to find as Hudson and Wright started to pick off the required runs at 5 an over. At one stage it seemed that a 10 wicket victory was on the cards but with the stand at 143 in the 32nd over Wright was caught at the wicket by Johnny Kennedy off the bowling of Ash Russell. Two big sixes from James Brown (19) suggested he might see Burley home with Hudson but his miss-timed attempt saw him caught at long off. When Pete Woodward joined Hudson the equation was simple, Burley needed 51 from 60 balls. It seemed equally simple when Woodward departed for 9, 17 from 24, however, two overs with only 5 runs from them and the loss of both Craig Doick and Charlie Clamp left Burley needing 12 from 12. With Hudson past his century he took 9 from the final three balls of Mark Stirling's over and 4 through mid wicket from the first ball of Dan Russell's, and the match's, final over saw Burley over the line in a good spirited game. Hudson finished unbeaten on 120 with Steve Moorman providing the support at the other end.
Burley will look to carry that form forwards as they host IBM Hursley next Saturday, Pylewell will be looking to bounce back as they host Amesbury.
