Match report Burley Sunday XI made it two wins out of two with a 4-wicket victory over The Cricket Society. The visitors made 205-4 from their 40 overs, Jason Fenn (64), and R Humphreys (57) made half-centuries as Burley found wickets hard to come by but kept the run-rate in check. Charlie Clamp was the best of the 8 bowlers used by Dan Maher, with 1-17 off his 8 overs. Scott Menary, Piers Scott and Mark Wheeler also each took a wicket. In reply, openers Mark Wetherall and Piers Scott put on 92 for the first wicket before Wetherall fell for 33 in the 19th over. Callum Maher kept the runs flowing along with Scott to keep Burley well on top. However, after Scott was stumped for 66, Maher followed shortly after for 37. Three ducks in the middle-order then followed to leave Burley on 158-6, allowing The Cricket Society a sniff of victory. With the game in the balance, Alec Moorman was joined in the middle by Scott Menary, the latter carrying on from where he left off the previous week, to strike an unbeaten 25, hitting consecutive boundaries to take Burley over the line in the 34th over. Moorman finished unbeaten on 33, getting some time in the middle before the league campaign begins this Saturday, before the Sunday XI welcome BSA to Burley on Sunday.
