Match report Burley's Sunday XI finally ended their eight match winless run with a sporting encounter with Damerham in the last game of the season.
The home side won the toss yet again and sent Damerham into bat. Tarun Zemuri made the breakthrough removing Simon White with Manjeet Grewal holding onto the catch. Gurpreet Singh rattled through the middle order and Grewal then produced a superb direct hit from the boundary to remove Damerham's remaining opener, L Bealey (36). A quick fire 37 from Ben Colbourne pushed Damerham's total above 150 before he was one of four visiting batters to be bowled by Charlie Humphreys.
In response, Dan Munday quickly went onto the attack but fell to Ben Colbourne but by the time Gurpreet Singh departed in the tenth over, Burley were on 64 and on the run rate. Kieron Hudson and Manjeet Grewal put on 93 runs between them and though Hudson was caught by Ben Carroll a long-awaited victory was in sight. Tarun Zemuri cracked three boundaries and with Steve Menary took Burley over the line in a good natured game with the two sides planning to reconvene at the start of next season.
