Burley Cricket Club

Burley Cricket Club 1st XI squad

1st XI 1st XI

Captain : Alec Moorman

Alec is the youngest of the Moorman family to take to the School Green for Burley.  He has shown himself to be athletic in the fieldand productive with the bat.  Alec hit his maiden league ton last season against Alderholt, sharing a 200+ stand with Jonny Beck.Alec has proved himself to be a useful reserve wicketkeeper when required.
Alec's batting philosophy appears to work on 'the harder I swing, the further it goes!!'

Vice Captain : Kieron Hudson

Kieron joined the club at the beginning of the 2006 season having moved to the area from Northamptonshire.  A right-handed opening bat Kieron made an immediate impact finishing the season as the top run scorer in the club.  He took over the mantle of skipper in 2009 and led the team to consecutive promotions and to Stone Cup success in 2013.
From 2008 he developed a solid opening partnership with Rob Munro and more recently has topped the order with Jonathan Beck. Kieron's toes are often in danger when needed to bowl and he will always be remembered for THAT over on tour!!
Jim Burry
Jim arrived at Burley during the early part of the 2010 season.  His medium pace has proved a useful asset to the team and he has also scored a few runs down the order, none more so valuable than the 60 at Sarisbury Athletic that gave the team a total to defend having struggled at the top of the order in the 2010 season.  Always keen to bat or bowl, not so keen (or even awake) when it comes to fielding.Having Been an outstanding fielder in his younger Days. And always up for the Banter
Mick Callaghan
Another former Parley convert, Mick took wicketkeeping in the club to a new level.  Not worried about standing up to any of the clubs bowlers he has provided security with the gloves.  Mick is also a master at rotating the strike when batting in his left handed, combative style.
Ben Crowley
Ben joined in 2010 and  has scored useful runs for both the 1st XI and 2nd XI.  He bowls medium quick and is always keen in the field.  In recent years Ben has played an active part on the committee and had a spell as indoor captain. Along with wife, Julianne, Ben organised the inaugural Burley Ten10 tournament in 2013 (which the home club Sunday team won) helping to raise much needed club funds as well as a bloody good laugh!
Craig Doick
Craig joined Burley, coming across from CBBEA at the latter end of the 2011 season.  Craig was aleady known to a number of the Burley squad through playing midweek cricket with 'Funnybone'.  His medium pace and / or spin often proves to be a good change in the attack and he can offer useful runs in the middle order. Craig is also always keen, with brother Steve, to demolish the tea before tea time ( if allowed!!)
Dan Maher
Dan followed Dad, John, and brother, Calum, into the Burley cricketing fraternity and has proved his worth at every level.  Dan's left hand batting and 'different' bowling action compliment his athletic ability in the field.
Steven Moorman
Lifetime member and currently Captin of the Saturday 2nd XI and look after the sunday fixtures.
